Built between 1893-1895, the courthouse was designed by Gunn & Curtis and built by the Probst Construction Company of Chicago. The architectural style of the building is Renaissance Revival, with pink Texas granite used for the exterior.
The courthouse stands as a focal point in the city’s skyline, with its central clock tower rising to a height of 194 feet. The tower is capped with a statue of Lady Justice, although interestingly, this statue does not have the commonly associated blindfold.
The cost of the courthouse construction was a whopping $408,840 at the time, which would equate to over $12 million today. The building was financed through a special bond election and its high cost was a matter of controversy at the time.
The courthouse was restored in the 1950s and again in the 1980s, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Visiting Hours and Requirements
Having a loved one in jail can be stressful and emotionally complicated. Visiting those loved ones should be simple. PCS Bail Bonds are here to help you navigate that process:
Visitors are able to sign in as early as 30 minutes prior to the start of visiting hours. Visitor sign-up is cut off at 8:30 p.m., but visitors are asked to be there no later than 8:00 p.m. to account for potential line-ups or delays. Visitors will not be processed after 8:30 p.m.
An inmate is allowed only two visits per day. Only two adults are allowed in at a time, but these adults may bring as many children under the age of 16 as they would like. A current, valid ID must be presented in order to gain access to the inmate. A driver’s license or a state identification card is an accepted form of ID. For visitors under the age of 16, a valid school ID is acceptable.
However, it’s important to note that anyone released from a Tarrant County Jail within the previous six months may NOT visit an inmate at all.
